VAEFF 2017 Highlights

VAEFF 2017 Official Selections Trailer

The Seventh Annual Video Art and Experimental Film Festival (VAEFF) introduces New York City to the most conceptually and aesthetically arresting, daring and provocative video art and experimental film from around the world. The festival continues with the ever-popular “Beauty, Sex & Shame” program, and is debuting the brand new “On the Margins” program as well as “Fashion Film – The New Wave,” guest curated by Niccolo Montanari, one of Fashion Film’s most prominent curators. In addition to the official selection, VAEFF invites a number of artists who continue to amaze the art, film, and media worlds with their exceptional portfolio of work. The resulting lineup is a captivating roster of both established and emerging artists from around the globe.

FASHION FILM - THE NEW WAVE - Trailer

In recent years, fashion film has gravitated toward the conceptual, eventually evolving into an art form in its own right. VAEFF has recognized the phenomenon of this new wave of fashion film and has included the genre in its selections for several years now.
This year, VAEFF is excited to present its newest program: Fashion Film – The New Wave, put together by guest curator Niccolo Montanari, one of fashion film’s most prominent curators.

VAEFF 2017 Photo Gallery

Over the years, VAEFF has attracted many prestigious artists and scholars to its lively panel discussions, including Alanna Heiss (founder of MoMA PS1), David Ross (former director of the Whitney and SFMOMA), Jason Sondhi (co-founder of Short of the Week and former lead curator of Vimeo Staff Picks).

On Saturday November 11th, VAEFF will present a special screening of selected works at DCTV followed by a Q&A with artists and filmmakers, moderated by Mark Alpert. The closing gala will conclude the festival.
