Artist: Marie Schuller
Visiting Hour is the central work in Marie Schuller’s trio for SHOWstudio’s Fashion Fetish series. The work references themes of age, memory and fantasy. With exquisite styling by Tamara Rothstein and art direction from Marlon Rueberg, this beautiful film is subtle yet sensual. Deliberately combating the under-representation of mature women in sexual imagery, the film delivers a pointed depiction of older females as sexual, beautiful and powerful beings.
Originally from Germany, Marie Schuller settled in England in 2004 where she studied filmmaking at the National Film and Television School and completed her MA in Photography at the University of the Arts London. Specialising in fashion content, her films are marked by the surreal and often abstracted offering cinematic, provocative and unsettling imagery. Since 2010 Schuller has been working for Nick Knight’s SHOWstudio in London as Head of Fashion Film. Her work has been screened internationally at institutions such as the Kunsthalle in Vienna, the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Fashion and Textile Museum, just to name a few. In 2012, Schuller was awarded the ‘Best Director of Fashion’ prize at ASVOFF Barcelona.
