Burberry Open Spaces Film
Director: Megaforce
Choreography: (La)Horde
Synopsis: A pioneering spirit has been part of Burberry since the beginning, with our founder Thomas Burberry inventing our signature fabric gabardine to help people embrace the outdoors and explore new spaces and places. Today, we continue this journey with a film that blurs the lines between reality and fantasy. The cast bound weightlessly through fields, defying gravity as they take flight – challenging convention and exploring new perspectives. As Thomas Burberry wrote in his book Open Spaces, ‘Inherent in every Burberry garment is freedom’.
Bio: Megaforce are Leo Berne, Clement Gallet, Charles Brisgand and Raphaël Rodriguez. The four French directors are from a variety of backgrounds in graphic arts, design, photography and advertising; the resulting fresh approach of these combined skills, and an ability to use seamless transitions in their work bought them to the attention of Riff Raff Films in 2010.
Their formative career years were spent directing videos for the likes of Late of the Pier, Kid Cudi, Metronomy and Two Door Cinema Club, who are now all a bit more famous than they were then. In the years since, they have made two Apple commercials along with the comedy genius that is Snackerkist for Saatchi & Saatchi London, and have worked with commercial clients including Instagram, Burberry, Dior, Lacoste, Bacardi, BBC Sounds, Lynx AXE, Assassin’s Creed, IKEA, Nike and Finish.
(LA)HORDE is a collective that was founded in 2013 by the three artists Marine Brutti, Jonathan Debrouwer and Arthur Harel. Together they question codes of various artistic disciplines, especially contemporary live art and performing arts. At the head of the Ballet National de Marseille since September 2019, they have created choreographic works, films, video installations and performances, that always evolve around the body in movement.
From the interaction and the juxtaposition of these different media, they develop scenarios and actions that take up radically contemporary themes and questions.
