Synopsis: Comunidad is a beautifully styled fashion film directed by Marco Castro and inspired by skating culture. However, it’s not just about aesthetics; the film also stands as commentary on the lack of Hispanic representation in the United States.
Bio: Marco Castro(he/him) is a filmmaker and documentarist specializing in fashion and beauty, based in New York and originally from Lima, Peru. His film work explores ideas of immigration brownness and loves to promote diversity through his choice of under-represented faces. Castro’s collaborator’s list includes Larry Clark, Nan Goldin, and his most recent clients, including Willy Chavarria, Office, Vogue, Metal, Paper, Vanity Teen, and V Man Magazines. Castro’s short films have garnered awards and nominations at over 30 film festivals worldwide, including Palm Springs San Diego Latino Film Festival, Berlin Commercial, Milano Fashion Film Festival, and Malaga Film Festival, among others.
